About Macaroni Schotel
Macaroni Schotel literally means
macaroni dish. It’s a baked-cheesy dish that is delicious to enjoy as a light
lunch or an afternoon snack. This dish
is basically the Dutch style of macaroni and cheese, that has become a part of
Indonesian food.
Ingredients:
300-gram macaroni pasta
1 can of corned beef
2 sausage and 2 more for topping
2 tin low-fat milk
200-gram cheddar cheese and
100-gram more for topping
2 onions peeled and chopped
4 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
4 eggs, beaten lightly
1 tsp ground white pepper
pinch of ground nutmeg
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp butter, and more to grease the dish.
How to Cook
- Firstly, Get a large aluminum dish ready. Grease it with butter. Set aside.
- Boil and cook the macaroni until it is al dente. While waiting for preparation, preheat the oven to 180℃
- Next, fry the onion and garlic in a little butter. Add sausage and corned beef, then mix it.
- In a mixing bowl, put the cooked macaroni in, add the onion, garlic, sausage and corned beef, beaten eggs, milk, cheese, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Mix and stir the macaroni mixture until all well blended and mixed. Now pour the mixture into the dish. Spread it nicely and evenly.
- Add the sausage and grated cheddar cheese for the topping
- Bake the dish in the oven for about 45 minutes or until it’s fully cooked.
